Captain’s knock

BIG DAY: Andrew Badrock was able to come in and swing his arms after Bright’s top order built a strong foundation.

ANOTHER century from captain Dylan Bursill has placed Bright in a good position to claim victory over Bruck in the penultimate round of Wangaratta and District cricket season.

Bursill’s score of 121, his third triple figure score of the season, helped the Wanderers to an imposing total of 9/329 in their match at Pioneer Park on the weekend.

After winning the toss the Wanderers recovered from 2/38 to post their biggest score for the season thanks to Bursill’s effort and the contributions of David Kelly (89), Regan Alexander (44) and Nick Howden (31).

After losing Sam Dalbosco and Howden in the first seven overs, Bursill and Alexander put the Wanderers back on track with another century partnership.

The pair added 130 for the third wicket before Alexander fell to the bowling of Vance Curran (2/18) in the 42nd over.

At that stage the home side was on course for a total of around 250, but Bursill lifted the tempo once past his century, adding quick runs before eventually falling in the 49th over with the score 208.
