TWO people were lucky to escape with their lives following a single vehicle car accident on the Great Alpine Road last week.

The accident occurred at approximately 3.30am on Monday, December 8, near the Rostrevor Hop Gardens on the Great Alpine Road.

Bright police’s Acting Sergeant Tony Finlaw said the two occupants of the vehicle, a father and daughter, were extremely lucky to have sustained minor injuries.

“The car was travelling south along the Great Alpine Road when it veered off the road and lost control,” he said.

“The car then crossed both lanes of the Great Alpine Road and left the road and collided with two poplar trees, before coming to a rest.”

Act Sgt Finlaw said the driver of the vehicle, a 64 year-old male escaped without injury, but his 21 year-old passenger was taken by ambulance to Northeast Health, Wangaratta.
