LIBRARY users in the Upper Kiewa Valley will soon see work beginning on the re-design and refurbishment of the Mt Beauty Library, together with the architectural elements of the nearby pondage precinct.

Alpine Shire Council has engaged local company Dreamers Designs and ODR Architects for the detailed design and documentation of the $420,000 redevelopment.

High Country Library Corporation CEO Jenny Wyllie said that they were very excited and pleased that the Alpine Shire continues to support the library, and recognises how important the library is to the community.

“This development is the greatest thing for the library since it was moved from the Community Centre in 1996,” she said.

“The outcome will be a really welcoming flexible community space, catering to small and large groups, and offering a meeting room which will be accessible outside library hours.

“The viewing deck over the pondage will encourage the community to come and use the area like their own lounge rooms, reading books and newspapers and using the Wi-Fi in comfort.”
